This extends to safeguarding children with practitioners who work with children ensuring of the child's well being and who are trained and competent for the treatment of children. Chinese medicine identifies differences in the development of tissues and organs in children compared to adults, and recognises differences in the pathological functions. Children are often vulnerable to illness and are easily affected by pathogenic factors and childhood diseases due to their immature and developing immune system. Although illness develops the immune system in children, Chinese medicine can alleviate the symptoms and aid recovery much sooner, returning a child to its happy self.
Needles are not necessarily used on infants and young children as tui na a form of massage is very effective and often obtains good results.
